Love Itself

I turns out I don't have many photos of Rabat - the city I'm living. Well, actually I have, but I don't really like many of them for one reason or other. However, I found some. Taken for the project last year called "Love Itself" inspired by Leonard Cohen's poem - sad, sad love story...
Essentially they are photos of Rabat, not very conventional ones, but that is why I actually like them.
Here is three of them:

Atlas Mountains

So, last week- -finally - mu mom came to visit! Finally! I could speak to someone on my native language, I have forgotten of how good it feels... Now she is back home again...
We decided to take a trip to Marrakech and Atlas Mountains.
I do like Marrakech, the colors, food, souk. Well, the visual side of the souk - it is amazing, but not the traders. They are far too aggressive, beyond belief! It can be so tiresome! Didn't take any photos of actual city. Remember the first time, about four years age, I was naively snapping on when random men started chasing me!!! Not  the most pleasant memories! It turned out that you have to pay for everything - everywhere you turned your lens to!
However, got some great photos from Atlas Mountains (after initial shock of sleeping is freezing conditions - no heating in he houses!). The mountains and the scenery was amazing, I only hope I managed to capture some of it on my photos!
First - the cute but cold guest house in the mountains and its hand-painted ceiling.

My favorite photo of the entire trip.

Variety of textures!

The ancient mountain mosque (sorry, forgotten the name), which is being restored by original methods.

Seen Not Heard

Found this on YouTube - Roxy performing. She has amazing energy and talent!

Girl Power Night At Ministry of Youth & Sport

It happened a few weeks ago - the ultimate girl power night! Now, you might think that the issue might be somewhat dated... Well, not in Morocco. There are still issues needed to be talked about. So, an American poet Roxy has organized poetry workshop all over the country for young women to express themselves with the help of poetry. And it was in English! I actually understood what was going on!! It was positively surprising  - they covered issues from many angles. Not just the usual - I am proud to wear my veil in spite of your ignorance! It was really varied - from love poetry to domestic issues.
So, overall successful evening! Most importantly - both, the organizers, participants and audience had a great fun!

I love these boxes!!!

The other day I went to medina to stock up on my yarns. Since i am planning to use the yarns rather often, I bought a fair amount. The great thing is that I got the boxes that go with them. And they look really nice and vintage!

Doilies

I have been making doilies recently. Mostly because of their practical value - I will hopefully have the opportunity to use them in the near future... fingers crossed, I will move soon...
